Our vision of the good life unites the leading heads behind the Steinbock curtains: Elisabeth, hostess with a refined sense of the exclusive, Bastian, head sommelier with his exhaustive knowledge of wines, and René, the new addition to our team, who, as a young head chef with a minimalist language, rethinks cuisine in the most surprising of ways. And all three share the same priority: You, and your very personal moments of good-life joy.

Here at the Ansitz Steinbock, we are incredibly proud and happy to have been crowned winners of this year’s renowned Alto Adige Wine Culture Award in the Restaurant category. Our hotel is passionate about the tradition of South Tyrolean wine culture, and we are honoured that this dedication has been recognised by the jury of the South Tyrol Wine Consortium. We are particularly proud of the appreciative commendation for our wine list, and for the expert wine recommendations provided by our head sommelier Bastian Winkler. Exceptionally well-connected with the local wine producers, Bastian knows a wealth of secrets and stories and is always happy to share them with our guests.

Sometimes filled with cheer, and sometimes decidedly more dignified: Our original, ancient dining rooms bring you both, in a bygone-day atmosphere which brings out the spirit of the modern day to magnificent effect. They move and surprise, with dishes based on forgotten ingredients, reviving traditional preparation methods to create flavours that bring you back to your childhood and infuse traditional dishes with new respect. This is the work of René Tschager and his kitchen team. With firm roots in South Tyrol and a boundless curiosity, he brings his vision of the good life to your plate in a playful, light-hearted style – always different, and always irresistibly good.

Savour the delicacies large and small from our award-winning kitchen with the sun on your neck and the proud mountains in view. When it comes to the pleasures that only a glass can bring, we know our way around. We’re sommeliers, and bon vivants to the core. By preference, we prefer to reach out for rare wines from South Tyrol and beyond. Burgundy, Franciacorta, the Wachau... We have a particular predilection for outsiders, and for winemakers whose idealism changes the shape of their world. You’ll find them all here in the Steinbock cellar, which has been making people happy since the days of the Counts. We store over 800 labels here in our Gothic vault. Until you wake them from their slumber. Served by our sommeliers Sonja and Bastian, paired with a fine meal or as a joy in their own right.
